Rock Cairn

The pile of rocks my dad and dog are seen in front of was probably erected in order to aid people in finding their way around the desert. This cairn was easily visible from almost a mile away and in terrain with few distinguishing features, it is probably very helpful to have such landmarks to refer to. My dad said that shepherds were probably the first folks to build and use such markers.
