The Birds Story

Filed under: Nature — Rowan @ 7:14 pm

I think I saw a Red-tailed Hawk and I also got to pet a Pine Siskin and a Pine Siskin came close to my knee. I found two dead Bald Eagles. I got to see a bird’s nest… and, I got to see three swans… and I saw a Bald Eagle and I heard about a starling with broken wing and it healed up the wrong way, now it can’t fly anymore. It will have to stay where it is.

  1. Connor,

That is pretty neat that you got to pet a Pine Siskin – you must have sat very still so it wasn’t afraid of you.

It is too bad that the eagles died. Did you find both of them in the same area?

Yesterday I found part of a jaw. It was under the the same bush where you found the bird skeleton last year. It still had teeth in it. I don’t know what kind of animal it came from so will have to ask Uncle Jonathan.

I mailed the package to your dad and it should get to Sitka by tomorrow. I hope you like what I sent to you.

On Sunday your cousin Beth and Matt (do you remember them – they read you a book last summer) had a baby girl. They named her Grace. I went to see her yesterday – it reminded me when I came up to see you when you were a baby and then when I came to see Rowan after she was born.

    Love, Grams

  2. No, one was under a tree and if you walk up a little farther then you will see the second dead Bald Eagle. They aren’t there any more.

I was sitting really still so the Pine Siskins came close to me.
