Cloudberries

The reddish-orange spots of color are the fruit of cloudberries (Rubus chamaemorus). They were especially abundant in the muskeg near a bench along Indian River Trail. They are also called baked apple berry because some folks think they taste like baked apples. I have never tasted baked apples which had a flavor like cloudberries, but my baked apple experience is pretty limited. I find the flavor of cloudberries not unpleasant. I did not really like them at first, but the taste grew on me, and now I kind of like them.
