Indian River

After many hours of steady rain, the water levels in Indian River rose and it turned a brownish color. It is my understanding that the brown coloration comes from tanins (or tanic acid?) present in the water flushed out of the muskegs (or bogs).

Location: Along Westwood Trail at Sheldon Jackson College, Sitka, Alaska
