Fresh Sapsucker Holes

It seems likely that these holes were made this year and perhaps quite recently. I am not sure how long it takes for the sap to collect and start to drip. Nor do I know how long it takes before it gets milky.

Location: Indian River Trail, Sitka, Alaska

Previous: Little Buttercup Leaf (Ranunculus uncinatus)
Next: Prickly Shield Fern (Polystichum braunii)
