Closeup of Previous Moss

I am not sure what the brown structure in the center of the plant is. I also just noticed a white stem with brown spots and a green dome cap that can be seen near the upper edge middle of the image. I did not notice them at the time, and do not know if they are part of a moss plant or something else.
