Golden-crowned Kinglet
Regulus satrapa

This may be the first time I have seen one of these birds when it was not in the branches of a tree or flying around. I'm not sure what on the ground was interesting enough to entice it down. There was also a brown creeper in with the flock of kinglets this bird was hanging out with. Unfortunately the creeper had moved too far up the tree by the time I was able to try for a picture.

Location: Totem Park, Sitka, Alaska

Previous: Chestnut-backed Chickadee (Poecile rufescens)
