Red-tail Hawk
Buteo jamaicensis

When we first saw this bird, I did not have my camera. It flew up from the ground with a squirrel in its talons and landed in a tree between the road and the water. We were able to watch it for a few minutes, and I finally decided to drive back home and get my camera. Fortunately, we were able to re-find the bird when we got back out the road.
