Brown Creeper
Certhia americana

This bird was the first creeper I remember hearing sing. I heard what sounded to me like a strange chickadee-like song that I did not recognize. It was coming from across the river, so I did not figure I had much chance of seeking it out. As I was puzzling over what I was hearing, this creeper flew up to the tree not 10 feet in front of me and started climbing up the trunk looking for food and singing that little song.
