Female Mallard
Anas platyrhynchos

I am not sure what this duck was doing up by itself. It had been in the open water and I noticed it when it climbed on to the ice as I was walking towards it. It seemed to be all by itself. I do not know why it was not down with the other ducks in the estuary.
