Winter Confluence

In this Winter 1996 picture of the confluence of the two main forks of Indian River, the east fork meets with the west fork as a fairly thick layer of ice. I am not sure why one fork was so frozen while the other was not, perhaps it was due to local temperature variations of the air and water or the diffences in water flow between the two.
