Tree on Rock

With as much water as there is around Southeast Alaska, trees will grow most anywhere. This one chose to grow on the side of a rock. Actually, what goes down the side of the rock is a big support root, I think. The main trunk has rougher bark and just a little bit of it can be seen at the top of the picture.
