Northern Geranium
Geranium erianthum

This plant uses an explosive mechanism for seed dispersal. When the seeds have matured and dried, they are spring loaded. In this picture you can see on the left where the mechanism has sprung and on the right where it has not.

Location: Sealion Cove, Kruzof Island, Southeast Alaska
