Leaving the Trees

There was a big difference in snow depth once we stepped out of the shelter of the trees. It was only a couple of inches under the trees, but at least a couple of feet deep in the open. Fortunately others had packed a trail for most of the distance, so the going was a little easier for us than it could have been.
