Missing Bark

The tree was dead, and I would not have thought anything was strange about it missing bark except that I saw little white scratch marks on the wood where the bark had been removed. This makes me wonder if a squirrel had chewed off the bark (perhaps for use in a nest).

Location: Sitka National Historical Park, Sitka, Alaska
