Yellow Pond-Lily (17k)

Yellow Pond-Lily
Nuphar polysepalum
N. luteum ssp. polysepalum

The flower in this picture is a yellow pond-lily (also known as yellow waterlily). As best I can determine, the red leaf is either part of a fragrant waterlily (Nymphaea ordorata) or pygmy waterlily (Nymphaea tetragona). In any case, it is not the same type of plant as the flower.

This picture was taken in a muskeg off of Indian River Trail on 5 June 1998.
