Russian Logging Remains I
Over 100 years ago, the Russians logged the lower part of Indian River Valley. There is still some evidence of their logging, including this rotting stump with a notch cut in it. Notches were used so that the logger could get high enough on the tree so that it was narrow enough for the saw to cut all the way through.
