The valley leads down to blue lake. It didn't look like there was a very nice way of getting down in the valley, but it sure looked tempting to try compared to the ridge we would end up taking which would require losing and regaining a fair bit of elevation and would require some unpleasant hiking on steep snowfields. On the other hand, if we had gone down the valley, it would have been troublesome getting around the lake.
